The band are Jez Miller on guitar and vocals, Ray Birch on bass, Ozzie on drums and Martyn "Nelsta" Nelson on lead guitar. The former three have served time as Damned/Lords of the New Church guitarist Brian James' band and also backed ex Heartbeaker Walter Lure, as his UK Waldos. Ray Birch and Oz were the rhythm section in Birmingham's favourite rock'n'rollers Gunfire Dance, which is how they first made Brian's acquaintance, with Rat Scabies and him taking on production duties for their Ultra Under 7" vinyl release. When Brian needed fresh blood for the Brian James Gang, he merely had to cast his eye up the M6. Gunfire Dance have recently had a career retrospective album released on Easy Action Records, which has garnered great reviews. Three became four when guitarist Martyn "Nelsta" Nelson from noughties rockers King Adora decided he'd had enough of semi-retirement, and also realised that he'd blown all his royalty advances, and it was time to get his trusty Les Paul back down from the attic. The Head Hunters set consists of self-penned originals, but given their pedigree, you may well hear the occasional familiar ditty... Buckle up and enjoy the ride!
